This was a great zone conference. We learned a lot from each other as we counseled together. We met in the Gander Lion's Club for the first time, and our amazing Newfoundland senior couples (the Domans, the Edwards & the Smiths) prepared a wonderful lunch with plenty of food for hungry missionaries. Hope you enjoy the pics.

We had a weekend of service and fellowshipping. All Newfoundland missionaries helped on a much needed project. The missionaries used a variety of skills to help complete a home renovation as well as yard cleanups. It was great to see everyone working together to make a difference. The weekend also involved a member/missionary social. We especially want to thank Elder and Sister Doman for their project oversight. Thanks to everyone who helped! Had another great Zone Conference in Gander Newfoundland. We launched our new initiative titled "Gatoraid" which trains members to be member missionaries. "Gator" for investigator and "aid" for members aiding missionaries by finding investigators. Elder Quinton, Elder Ray, Sis. C Fisk and Sis. Andersen did a wonderful job presenting "Gatoraid." We need to thank Elder Quinton in particular for the months he spent in consultation w Pres. Pratt to create "Gatoraid." Both members and missionaries alike are excited about this new initiative. I had to post this great cartoon about tracting in Newfoundland. This will no doubt provide some chuckles thanks to a family friend of Elder Julian who created this herself.
We all met in Gander, Newfoundland for a zone training. The Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders lead the discussions/training and did a fantastic job! We always love our visits to Newfoundland. The people are so kind and friendly, and the missionaries are great. We traveled to St. John's Newfoundland for our Christmas Devotional. We had a morning program with some talks and lots of special musical numbers. Our afternoon was spent exchanging gifts and sharing talents. We always love our time in Newfoundland. This past weekend we had a District Conference for our branches in Newfoundland. St. Johns and Bay Roberts Branches met in St. Johns with Corner Brook and Grand Falls Skypeing in from Corner Brook. The conference was uplifting, and visiting with the Saints in Newfoundland was inspirational. So many good strong people! We heard lots of great stories and saw a bit of beautiful scenery. As is the tradition, we had a potluck dinner and talent show. Following the talent show, we had a Screeching In Ceremony. A screeching in is where the screechees are required to drink/eat a variety of interesting foods including caeplins (small whole dried fish (head and eyeballs intact), cod liver oil, serenity syrup, molasses candy, etc. The end initiation is kissing a cod. Screechees are then dubbed Honorary Newfoundlanders. Pres. Pratt and I chickened out, but we had 6 missionaries take the plunge. All were successful. We had the privilege of hosting a mission tour for President and Sister Perkins. They were happy to see our missionaries, provide training, and meet some of the church members in Newfoundland.. You can’t imagine the riveting stories we heard from our stalwart, happy St. Johns Branch members. There were more than 20 members who traveled here to spend time in the temple for two days. We were lucky enough to have some of them stay with us. We will never forget it. The entire Newfoundland group. The fun, kind group that stayed in our home.
