Had a wonderful Zone Conference in Newfoundland. It was very balmy weather for a change (warmer than Nova Scotia). Sis. Cartwright and Elder W. Smith as well as the Assistants and STLTs gave great training during the Zone Conference and District Leader Training. We also had training for our new technology (smart phones). The missionaries are excited for these upcoming changes.

Our Nova Scotia Zone Conference was great. Training on the smart phones as well as training at the zone conference by Elder T. Phillips and by Elder Haslam (district leader training). A shout out to our Assistants (Elders Madsen and Ipson) and our Sister Training Leader Trainers (Sisters Claus and Wood) who were essential at all the zone conferences.
Zone conference in New Brunswick was very instructive. We had great training by Elder Clark (at zone conference) and Elder H Smith (at a district leader training). Our tech missionaries, Elders Greenlief and McArthur also trained missionaries on using the smart phones they will receive at the next zone conference. One mission president and wife said they had prayed for technology. To be honest, we can't say the same--but it's coming anyway!
We lost Elder Legault, Sister Orr, Sister Osborn, and Sister Stoker to their parents this December. We were sad so see them go home, but happy for their families to have them back in time for Christmas. They were exceptional missionaries and human beings. We are so proud of what they have accomplished.
Just got my camera back from Newfoundland (yes I left it there) so I can post our arriving missionaries for December. We've had a little bit of time to get to know them and each and every one is just great. Doesn't take any time at all to love them.
We had 2 great missionaries arrive last night. This is the 2nd time in a row that missionaries have made their Toronto connection and arrived at a decent hour (hooray!). Sister Green arrived from Grande Prairie, Alberta. She seems happy to begin her missionary journey, and we are grateful she's here. Elder Gregson--also a Canadian missionary--arrived last night as well. He is from Lethbridge, Alberta and seems equally happy to be here. We are so glad to have him here as he begins his mission . Can't wait to see all that he will accomplish.
Elder Braeden Butt has been called to serve in the Guatemala, Guatemala City Central Mission. He was set apart as a missionary by President James R. Pratt (Canada Halifax Mission President) at the Halifax International Airport during a stopover on his way from Corner Brook, Newfoundland to the Mission Training Center in Provo, Utah. His grandparents, Lloyd and Doris Butt, are pioneers of the Church in Newfoundland; and his father, Dr. Sheldon Butt, also served as a missionary. Thus, the family has a legacy of faith and service which Braeden is excited to continue. We pray God's blessings will be upon him and his family.
We are now having additional training for new missionaries during their first 12 weeks. We believe this will benefit the missionaries greatly. So far we feel it has been very successful in helping the new missionaries understand their priorities and giving them ideas that will aid them in their efforts. We feel very good about these young missionaries and are once again amazed at their goodness and strength. It says a lot about the future of the CHM.
We ran out of time to have a group photo taken during our October MLC, so we did some quick group photos. These meetings are so inspirational. We get many great ideas from the missionaries. Enjoy!
These photos don't do justice to the beauty in this mission. Just wanted you to get a glimpse of what we've seen this fall during our travels. Hopefully your missionaries are sending you some pics as well.
